What is Accountability free essay sample

How Can I apply it to my daily life? (As a soldier in the U. S. Army) How can I apply it as a life skill or value to myself and others around me? To define Accountability, we must look at the very definition the word implies and its meaning. Historically the word â€Å"Accountability† stems from the Latin words accomptare (to account), a shortened form of the word computare (to calculate), which originated from the word putare (to reckon), as a combination of these three words, which founded the word in the English Language that we associate today that embodies these three meanings as one. As each of these qualities that this word represent, can often be applied to nearly every decision we make in our daily lives in the process of our job, or on our personal time. Accountability is a life skill, and it has many uses, as some examples would be with our finances, (keep a good record of how you spend your earnings) which would be financial responsibility, ethical accountability (very important in a workplace environment, basically by watching what you speak about others, and how you perform your job on a daily basis), and a last example physical accountability (keeping records of what has been tasked [or issued] for you as a person to keep in good-working order, and checking to make sure those item[s] in question are ready for use at any time). S. Army, and coincide with the Seven Army Values. To further solidify this statement, some of these examples used will be applied in accordance with a familiar situation an individual may face as an employee in the U. S. Army. The situation is an individual is tasked with the duty of being present at a predetermined time (subject to change at a moment’s notice), and in the right uniform and equipment to continue the elements of training and skill progression. To be on time the individual must demonstrate ethical responsibility (by keeping current time and making sure to be present by that predetermined time), physical responsibility (by making sure Page 2 his/her uniform is clean and presentable, and the individual is in the correct uniform for the event, and lastly by showing accountability to his superiors by informing them of his current location before such event, and to contact them if anything transpires that will delay his arrival to said event. This also works in reverse, as his superiors are equally required as well to demonstrate these qualities. As said previously accountability is a life skill, and an Individual skill that every person must practice this daily.

Would it matter if religion disappeared by the end of the 21st century Essays

Would it matter if religion disappeared by the end of the 21st century Essays Would it matter if religion disappeared by the end of the 21st century Essay Would it matter if religion disappeared by the end of the 21st century Essay Religion has many effects on life and politics for example, people that follow one religion cant for example necessary eat the same food as somebody who doesnt follow any religion. This essay, will touch upon problems and benefits of following a religion, coming to a conclusion weather I think it would matter if religion disappeared by the end of the 21st century.Currently, there are many, many religions around the world, some such as Christianity (or similar religions) have literally billions of followers. Religion can, on one hand give followers strength and security within themselves; followers are involved in usually a large community of like-minded individuals. However, religion can also have a down side; followers can often be limited in their lives. For example, drinking, many religions ban drinking along with before marriage sex and also some food. Some times this is not a problem, because followers want to be as loyal to their religion as possible. But for others who do not get the choice of religion they follow may perhaps not agree with the limits.Religion can offer criminals an alternative, in Christianity; no matter what you have done, you can be forgiven. Criminals might perhaps return to crime if religion became a figment of our imagination in the following hundred years or so. Many prisons have an access a church or a prayer room of some kind, for this reason is why criminals often turn to a faith for forgiveness. However some activist religions believe that killings; such as a suicide bombing is a good thing. People are convinced by teachers or preachers that they will live forever in paradise if they complete such a killing. Said people are known as martyrs to the people of that particular religion.Arguments of faith can often spark, because of conflict of belief. Many people get persecuted of their religion every year. People are often too scared to stay in their own homes or even countries and flee to become citizens of another country, these people are known as asylum seekers.Personally, I feel that religion should be in the choice of the follower if they wish to further their beliefs. I think that so much controversy would arise if religion was totally gone, I dont see any point in trying to wipe it out. I feel that if people want to pursue a religion they should be able to without feeling worried of persecution, and even death because of their beliefs. I myself dont follow any religion, because I have no idea if there is on or several greater power(s). Perhaps the real question should be, is religion likely to disappear by the end of the 21st century, that way; a discussion of religious importance; and the stoppage of religious persecution could be ceased. At the end of the day, nobody could tell the future, who knows; tomorrow we could all be forced to join the Jedi religion!

Engineering Professions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Engineering Professions - Essay Example Of all the fields that mechanical engineering offers, I would like to specialize and take up a job in the field of Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/M). Simulation is becoming the keyword for the success of most engineering projects. Every company, venturing on a large scale production would like to know whether the project is going to be successful or not. This was once an impossible task due to the limitations in fields of Computer hardware and software. But today, it is becoming a possibility. This is where CAD/M comes in to picture. According to Gerald Michael, CAD/M is the direct application of specialized hardware or software to product and manufacturing engineering and manufacturing operations (Michael, 1980). Architecture, Vehicle and aircraft design, Engineering design, Microchip design, Graphic design and Animated films are just few of the several applications of CAD/M (ICTSpecialist, nd). CAD/M engineers, also known as computer draftsmen work with specialized computer programs to generate blueprints and simulations for an engineering projects such as aircraft building, ship building, construction of a sky scraper and others. Some of the most commonly used CAD/M softwares currently are AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ProE, Cadence, Mentor, CADKey and Microstation. Some of the typical everyday duties of a CAD/M engineer include taking hand drawn plans and converting them into presentable and accurate blueprints using CAD/M softwares, generating simulations by specifying the parameters and answering 'what-is' questions and attempting to integrate the company wide data from different stages of production for easy work-flow management. Most colleges, private and public offer courses to train students on their specialized career paths in the field of CAD/M. However it must be noted that, design and simulation is as much an art as it is a science. Therefore many companies restrict their requirements in a prospective candidate. However, at a minimum a student must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing engineering or any other branch closely related. The courses offered in these degree programs give students the basic theoretical knowledge of analysis and design that can be used in a real time setting later on. Although there are several certificate oriented courses that teach particular softwares with just sufficient theoretical knowledge, I feel that, to truly grasp the essentials of CAD/M, one must go through a professional degree program with courses such as Product Design, Product Optimization, Production Planning and Scheduling, Automation in Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing Sys tems , Interactive Computer Graphics and Robotic Manipulators and Mechanisms apart from taking up certified courses in special CAD/M softwares like ProE, SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The job prospects for CAD/M Engineering profession is extremely bright. Drafters held about 254,000 jobs in 2004, Architectural and civil drafters held 43 percent of all jobs for drafters, mechanical drafters held about 32 percent of all job
